i just got a wrecked '95 900rr from a friend and it's not starting. the engine cranks over but will not start, there is no gauge cluster in it right now and i was wondering if that could cause it not to start.

you dont need the guage cluster but you do need the bank angle sensor. Not sure exactly where it is on the 900, but its usually up in the nose between the headlights somewhere

 

did you test for spark and fuel?

As for the 900rr, yes, check the tipover sensor maybe?

 

Are you sure a 95 900rr has a bank angle sensor??? I've rode mine without fairings and had it all apart and never noticed anything like that
