IS it possible to use a 96 front wheel on a 93?? I know that 93 is mechanical and the 96 is electronic.. Any way to make this work or no? Thanks

it should bolt on id believe...the mechanical speedo just acts as a spacer which is replaced by an actual spacer in 96...I could be wrong but it seems logical

Yeah I'm wondering too about the speedo.

Mofun you can also try to ask this question at sportbikes.net

They have a few 900rr owners there too.

I am very sorry I could not help you with the front rim, I see they are very very hard to find.

I actually have a stock '93 rim, 16" but I cannot sell it for any reason.

The bike I bought has been through about six owners and each time the bike has been sold, a ton of spare parts have gone with the bike.

I cannot be the first owner to sell any of those parts, they come with the bike and will go to the next owner of my 900rr. Hopefully I will never sell this bike though.

honda used that rin through the 900s life...it should be interchangeable no matter what...the spacer on the 96 just replaces the speedo pickup on the 93...you figure the frames are the same and the motors are relatively similar, the rims are the same style...its basically the same bike just with a few tweaks here and there through the years....best thing to do is look at the pickup side of the rim..there should be notches for the pickup...I have a 99 and I think the notches are there...unfortunately im bed ridden for now so I can't go out and check...hahaha...cough...cough...hack...wheeze.... haha

it won't fit - I had a wheel off a later year 900 and on my '94 the speedo drive gear wouldn't fit, it's actually bigger than the spacer and the wheel won't fit between the forks. The '93-'94 front wheel has a deeper groove to allow for the speedo gear to fit just a slight bit deeper into the wheel. The clip that goes in the wheel that actually turns the gear won't fit either.
Save yourself the effort and just find the right year wheel. It took me almost a year of waiting for someone to post parts off a '94 for me to get mine. For that time I just rode with the newer wheel & no speedo/odometer. Just stay with the flow of traffic so you don't get speeding tickets for not knowing how fast your going
