Do I have to replace the steel plates in the clutch?I just need to put a clutch in my **** for a big beach trip this weekend. What doI need to look for on the steel plates to tell if they are bad.most kits I can afford dont have them....i'm doing this on a real low budget.any suggestions on what kit to go with.I have to get one ordered today
Dude, you always answer my replies....and I really appreciate it!! I actually have not torn it down yet, doing that tomorrow night.I just needed to know what to look for.....now I know! what do you recomend for a low budget replacement, with the steelies
well i dont like to give this out but it a little trix learned...... take your metals out and if there not burt or brown and you have a glass top table go get some 400 grit sand paper wet the back of the sand paper just a little and place it on the table... now makesure your metals are real clean and rub them in a circle motion on the paper about 4-6 circles each side if there's no dull spot your metal's there fine if its shinny then dull there warped toss them....
I tore the clutch apart and found out one of my friction plates came apart! I m guessin this was the clutch basket noise the dealership was hearing. my questin now is if I go ahead and get the complete kit, steels and all,do the steels need to go in a specific spot or just randomly in between the frictions like they came out
