Default petrol question

hi guys i have the cbr900rrv model 1997 and was wanting to know if the petrol tank on/off/reserve switch is vacuim fed. in other words do i need to turn to the off part when parked up

CBRJOHN,

The 97' should come with a fuel pump...

honda fuel pump partsmanual fiche cbr900rr cbr 1997 usa

but it's hard to say because previous owner may have mod it to gravity feed... check if it's gravity feed set up...if yes, then yes, swtich your petcock to off position or else it may smell like a gas leak when you fire her up....

but if you plan to park for excessive amount of time like months... then it's always best to shut off.

Thing is I always forget to turn back on, then bike starts to stutter & feels like the clutch is slipping LOL...then to feel dumb.

Default petrol tap

thanks for the info mate i did notice when tank was last of that there was a small thin tube fitted to the petrol tap along with the thicker pipe if this tells you anything

i always turn off the fuel when parked on my carb bikes, just as an extra safety measure. i just make it a habit to turn it on in the start up procedure.

yes thats my setup up as its states in the photo thin pipe nu 25 is vacuim thanks very much
