Question Petrol/fuel in oil

Howsit Gents, I have a CBR 919RR 98 Model, I had a oil light problem as it came on and stayed on, only over a certain rpm would it go off... I drained the oil and it had a fuel smell and very thin. I changed the oil and no more oil light, I just wanted to check how or why is there fuel in the oil and how can i fix this.

Thank you
Ricardo

Sounds to me like you have rings/compression issues and the fuel is washing past the rings down into the oil. I can't think of any other way fuel can get in to the crankcase in an internal combustion engine! Unless......someone opened up the oil fill cap and poured fuel into it.

wait..........just thought of this, if your float bowls are leaking past the jets while the bike is shut off it can fill in to the cylinders and leak down the rings into the crankcase as well. Try shutting off the fuel petcock when you shut off the bike

Ricardo919, I heard a bike go down the road with only 3 out of its 4 cylinders working. I've also seen enough posts with people having a dead cylinder.

From when you start it up to when you ride it, does a cylinder ever hesitate then come in intermittently? If all cylinders aren't firing all the time, the unburned gas can make it down the cylinder/s.

A dead cylinder can lead to thinned out oil, when then leads to a spun bearing.
