Correct. It's the lowest part of the bike. Look at the picture below:

Your bike will look a little bit different, but this is the best I can do. Obviously you lack the turbo, and you'll have an oil cooler between the oil filter and the engine block. The black thing is the oil filter. It may come in different colors, but it will be that same size, shape, and location. The red & blue thing WILL NOT be on your bike (it's the oil return line for the turbo), but what it is connected to is the front of the oil pan (the light gray aluminum thing it is connected to).

It's the Honda service manual for our bikes. 3.8 quarts, since you're changing the filter too. 10w40.
So go pick up 4 quarts (they're sold in 1 quart each, generally) of 10w40 MOTORCYCLE SPECIFIC oil. It has to say motorcycle on the label somewhere, and not two-stroke motorcycle either. You've got a four stroke. If it just says motorcycle and 10w40, you're good to go. Any brand, since it's all about the same. They all have to meet the same SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) testing standards.

lol i know a bit about vehicle mechanics but non about motorcycle and i know partially flows together but i never changed my oil myself...just didnt want to screw anything up but seems simple enough. Now i could swear i saw the oil filter in the front of the bike behind the headers...soemthing esle?
