Default no power to the coils

pretty much like the heading reads...
i have zero spark out of my coils, both of them..
its my 97 900 and also my fighter.. which has had alot of rewiring
anyway if anyone can think of anything.. i've been just going through the book and trying to run it down but my son has kept me really preoccupied with him this weekend..
before this happened i was getting stuttering at the higher rpm range. nothing consistent but i have noticed it there the last couple months..
if anyone chimes in, thanks in advance
jay

well figured it out!
in case someone does a search and finds this.. it ended up being the ignition pulse thingy on the right side of the motor. swapped it out for a good one and bam, had spark back..
little worried though, its a sealed unit and im still unsure what caused it to fail..

can you be more specific as to what a pulse thingy is really called?

sure
its called a pulse generator. its on the right side of the motor if your siting on the bike..
also after it failed I swapped it out with a working one however there was a lot of oil behind the cover im not sure if that's normal or not.. the unit itself is sealed and ive never had one fail on me...
so I was hoping who ever was going to respond would have alittle experience with the same problem or know this area of the bike exceptionally well.. anyway this bike cuts out at high rpm's and I have a funny feeling this has something to do with it, I think its all connected somehow..
