Default motor knock/tapping

ok so i have 99 900rr. it had a blown motor, i got a new/used motor that was sitting for a yr or so.

swapped that baby in.

Now on idle it sounds ok, but when you give it gas it has a knocking sound coming from the top i believe. This happens in all gears and neutral. What do you guy think this could be. I will try to post a video tomorrow.

of the bat, i'd try CCT (cam chain tensioner). thats a pretty common problem. if the motor was sitting or has a substantial amount of miles on it, it should be the problem. you can get manual ones on ebay for around $50.

hum, my bike makes a light tapping noise but when cold and in nuetral. I wonder if it could be the cam chain tensioner aswell. when the bbike is warm or in gear NO noise. My bike i bought after it was sitting for about a year. I had carbs cleaned and changed oil...

how much do you know about the motor that you just put in there? was it a good running motor before you got a hold of it?

I know what was told to me. The guy "said" it was a good motor had about 8000 miles or so on it. i turn the crack just to make sure it was not seized but thats as much as i did. I just brought the manual cam tensioner, should be here in a few days. in the mean time i gonna do a compression test and let you know the results, that should give me some more info as to what it may be.
