Default Looking discontinued lower cowl parts for Pearl Yellow 1998 CBR900RR

Ran a very familiar, much-traveled right-hand city street corner a little too close a couple days ago, and was out of adjustable space when the guy in front of me decided to go *really* slllooowwwly around the corner. (I had anticipated the he would speed up, just like every other driver does when they go around it. No joy, Houston.)

The braking I had to do to keep from lightly tail-ending him wasn't extreme at all, but it *was* enough that it consumed what was left of the cornering space on the road. I was definitely going to under-run the corner and leave the road. But not before my front tire encountered the 8" curb at an angle that was remarkably close to parallel. Which you *know* is not going to be good,

Got the bike slowed down to about 5 mph before encounter the curb. Bike meets curb. Tire decides to jump a bit, then tries (but fails) to jump the curb, and really just succeeds in jostling me around a bunch while my front tire, the road, and the curb have an argument who's in charge here before gyroscopic precession does its thing and jerks the front tire back on the road.

I end up doing that real pride-killing "bike falls over at 3 mph" thing, where you are trying desperately (and futilely, as anyone who's ever done it knows) to keep the bike upright with one leg, which serves to extend the duration of the inevitable collapse by exactly no time at all, and really kills your leg in the process.

So, my bike is now down on its right side in the street, right up against the curb and mostly out of the way of the cars that will be coming behind me. And it was apparently a good day for people not running me over as they came around the corner, something for which I am palpably grateful.

A couple of bystanders run out of the coffee shop right there on the corner and ask if I'm ok, which I am (Thank you, Hein Gericke, First Gear, and Shoei!), and help me stand the bike back up. I quickly assess her, and she's fine, just a little cosmetic damage. I get back on, start her up, and carefully ride away while constantly paying very active attention to any unusual or out-of-the-ordinary noise, vibration, or behavior which might indicate I had missed something that was wrong. Nothing. Only thing injured here is my pride. Well, my pride and my right side lower cowl, which looks pretty chewed up. But that's it, and I count myself fortunate that it wasn't a LOT worse, which it could easily have been.

So, long story short (I know -- Too late. ), here's why I'm posting: I need to find the two pieces of lower cowl that I need to replace. No problem, right? Just hit bikebandit.com or revzilla.com and order the parts and be done with it, right? Only, the thing is, my bike is that wonderful "bumble bee" color that Honda calls "Pearl Shiny Yellow".

Bikebandit and Revzilla both show it as "Discontinued", and a call to my local Honda dealer confirms that the color went out of production years ago. I search the web for a day and can't find anyone with the OEM parts in the right color still in stock. So I'm asking in here: Does anyone here know where I might still be able to find the parts I need in the color I want?

The specific parts I'm looking for are #3 and #5 on the exploded drawings that most web sites have. (I'm using the text from Revzilla, but BikeBandit and Honda use the exact same terminology and drawings: Diagram F24680).

It's in the drawing section titled:

Body, Fairing & Fender --> Lower Cowl

The *exact* parts I'm looking for (right part *and* in the Pearl Yellow that I want) are:

64400-MAS-L00ZC (this is the #3 part on the drawing, Type 3, which is the yellow. Type 1 is black, and type 2 is red.)
and
64300-MAS-L00ZB (this is the #5 part on the drawing, Type 3, which is the yellow. Type 1 is black, and type 2 is red.)

If anybody knows where I might still find those OEM parts, please let me know.

Thanks!

Mitch

TL;DR -- I'm looking for these exact Honda OEM lower cowl parts for my Pearl Yellow 1998 CBR900RR:

64400-MAS-L00ZC and 64300-MAS-L00ZB

Hey, I feel your pain.
I had a mint condition blue/ black cbr 954RR and someone drove into me from the left.
Which made my bike smack over to the right and then my upper and right cowl were seriuously damaged.
However the upper cowl was not available anymor by Honda and if it were it would cost me about €900,-
Therefore I went searching on the internet and found quite some sites whom sell cowl kits.
Some of them said that they could make any color any pattern you like.
Although it is not original Honda, it is the right plastics and the right color and the right fit.
I know it hurts, but I found it the only option within reason of costs.

good luck and keep us posted.

Its going to be a tough find. Your best bet is eBay.

I agree with hamlin6. Very hard to find. Almost impossible new.
Ebay, Craigslist and Facebook Market Place are a few places I would search. It might take a long time to find these exact pieces. Just keep searching.
You will have better luck finding some good quality pieces, even if they are in the wrong color and just have them painted to match.
Good Luck!
