Default Inverted fork conversion ??

Does anyone know if an inverted fork assembly (forks, trees, etc.) will mount right up to the '93 900rr frame? I was thinking about using the 929/954rr assembly... what of it, anyone know?! [8D]

If the '93 has the same head bearing as the '98/'99, then yes. And I think it does.

Just use the complete assembly from the 29 or 54 and it'll bolt right up. Triples, forks, brakes, wheel, grips, et cetera. Just keep it all together and it'll attach to the frame no problem. Assuming the '93 has the same size bearings as the '98/'99.

So what your saying is a 98-99 will have no problem just bolting up a 29/54 front assembly? Interesting, perhaps this is a better idea than the 17" conversion. Thanks 66

Ummm... before you guys run off and buy up all the 929 954 front ends...

The center steering is SHORTER on the 929 954's!

You need a machinist to make adjustments.
You need EVERYTHING off the 929 954 front.
and you get 3 spoke front wheel. [:'(]

I know folks who have simply bolted it on. No machining or rigging or whatever.

I stand corrected!!! They slap on NICELY!!! I just did it on a spare frame and a set of 954 forks I had as a project!!! Sorry for causing a false goose chase. But now you know there are NO surprises. Tested with a 1994 900rr Frame![:@]

The rim is too wide supposedly. The part that fits between the swingarm mounts. And the 29 and 54 use a 6 cush doodads while the 900 uses 5. So rear sprockets don't even interchange. I don't mind running the 180 though instead of the 190. I had a 190 on my bike briefly while I got my brand new 180 Metzeler M1 patched up (only a couple days old before I ran over a nail) and didn't notice a difference in the bike. Not worth the effort, I'd think.

That 17" front and inverted forks from the 29/54 however... I sure would love to swap that on.
