Infamous "Crea" 900rr
Hey All,
I'm new here to the forums (first post on any forum for that matter), and have owned my '95 900rr for about 3 years now. It's the infamous Crea body kit (carbon fiber); I guess you hate it or love it. The bike has been good to me, but I really want to build acustom streetfighter-ish? bike. I can't decide if Ishould strip my bike of the body and workwith it, or just sell the bike as it sits and buy another to build the fighter. The bike has a nice undertail exhaust, rearsets, powdercoated frame, etc.....but has no subframe or tank (crea kit whole tank, fairing stays, seat and tail are one piece).
I don't know if there is a market for the bike with this body on it.Any suggestions? Comments?

Wow, that is def different! I cant say I like it (I just love the 900RR body style from the factory) but damn dude it does look freakin sweet! It looks like a lot of time and $$ was put into that piece so I would not work backwards. Personal suggestion and take it for what its worth. Keep the bike.... and buy another project 900. That way you'll have the best of both worlds! Damn I bet that thing turns heads on the street!

When that body work first came out everyone wanted it BUT..... people where finding out that if you took the bike over 147-149 mph the bike felt real light in the front like it was lifting off the ground...?[:-]

Thanks for all the comments/suggestions guys.
I bought the bike with the kit on it; I wasn't wild about, I was looking for a stock 900rr, but seems likesomebody was building a track bike out of it and sunk alot of money aftermarket and the price was really right, so I figured why not.I have since spent countless hours retrofitting/modding the bike and kit. The kit really does not fit the bike well, it is nearly impossible to get on and off with only one set of hands, and even with a helper it is really difficult. I have had the bike apart tons of times and have put dozens of neoprene and nylon washers/spacers all over to keep the thing tight and quiet.
As for the ride, the worst part is that you lose a good 25-30 degrees of steering because of the integral fairing stays. I've adjusted the clip ons hundreds of times to get around it but there is no avoiding it. It's no big deal once you get out and ride, but its a 3-5 point turn out of the garage, and slow u-turns,etc. suffer. As for the bike feeling light around 150mph, I can't say that I have experienced it; but the solidtank, seat and tail piece make the bike feel super rigid and can make for a rough ride.
I don't really want to sell the bike, but I don't know that I want to keep the kit on it either. I think I will keep the body work, pickupmaybe a '98 tank, 919 headlight/gaugesand fab up a custom subframe and tail leaving the exhaust as it is. I've got way too much time and money in the bike to sell it and start from scratch.

Cool custom either way. I'm sure you could sell the kit pretty easy. It'd give you some change to put together the body work you want. It'd drive me crazy to not have the turning radius you could. How can you make a quick getaway when you can't make a U'ie. Good luck with that. Don't have it in peices too long! .
