Haha I do have friends with cruiser as well but I never won't to own one of be myself riding one. Anyway you made the right choice my friend....

i am having the same problem once i hit 3500 in 3rd gear i have a dead spot ,even with clutch in and it continues thru on to 6th its a 99 cbr 900rr with less then 10,000 k&n filter with a 2bros. slip on ,carbs have been cleaned im thinking maybe pilot screw.idk

Surging 'usually' indicates a lean condition. Dry air filter (needs oil on a KN) or maybe pilot screw adustments.

Whoever owned my bike last (it's had a couple owners) seems to have tuned the carbs just right.

The bike idles just fine...oh yes, I forgot but i had to increase it just a bit when I first got it.

But from zero to any speed in any gear the acceleration is immediate and responsive with no lag that I can feel, no jerkiness.

However as my bike gets older and more used I may have problems, but so far it's been fine.
