Default High RPM's spuddering

In the past I had posed about my 98 not getting gas into the carbs, then reconnected the vac line and it started up but ran very rough ... I discovered the filter on the petcock was missing so I put an inline fuel filter in on the way to the carbs ... the bike runs mint lower to mid rpms but as soon as i get on it or hope in the highway it spudders. Could the filter not be flowing enough? everytime I look at it its filled. Please let me know that you know!

I've encountered the same problems with my bike and have been solving them slowly. My bike was not complete when I bought it and I had to buy alot of things through ebay. I've discovered that the 93,94,and 95 models use a fuel pump and 96 to 99 don't have the connection for one. The carbs all bolt up but I noticed that the needle and seat are different and have a smaller orfess on the 95 and earllier. I put a fuel pump on mine and sovled the dead spot and sputtering but my carbs started to flood so I removed it and placed a 1/.2 inch fuel line and high flowing fillter and it seams to be running better. See the carbs I have are 96 and don't hold the 4 pounds the fuel puts out. I am going to go to a timing advancer and jet it correctly and see what happens. Johnny

Man johnnyh is dead on on this one you really got to try all kinds of stuff when working with fuel... one bike wont work with a fuel pump one will. one bike runs beter with a inline fuel filter one wont ??? try this .... run bigger fuel lines and go from there if it cures the problem so be it if notpump, bigger filter, bigger lines, jetting, its a big game when it comes to fuel going in the bike......it took me 2 weeks to get the right jets in my bike 140's,150,s now i have 162's but i tried all the jets till i got to 162's just play with it one day it will FLY!

Yesterday I went to the store and picked up two high flowing inline filters and some more fuel lines, splitters. I made the fuel lines split off and have fuel filters each way then reconnect to double the ammount of fuel given to the carbs. It still spudders. A friend thinks I should test the wires and p;ugs because the bike has been sitting since 99 till a month ago. Carbs a super clean, fuel lines clear, vac line is clear and the plugs are clean. Are the jets usually a problem liek this?
