Default head gasket seal

hello all i am somewhat new to the forum my name is chris patterson i live in mobile alabama and i own a 95 cbr 900rr..ok at high speeds say over 100mph i noticed a leak on the right side coming from the u ring on the side of the seal...im going to change the seal this weekend ..can anyone tell me if the 6 bolts on the gasket cover have to be torqued? and what kind of sealant do i need to prevent this from happening again? any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, torque the bolts - it's aluminum and you can strip them - abt 9 ft lbs I think, but go to
www.stephygee.com
and grab the manual...........

My favorite sealant is StayBelow 70. Works every time and you can get it for next to nothing if you know where to go.

ok update on the leak!!!took the valve cover off while cleaning the cover i noticed a safety pin sized hole in the valve cover itself..got a new one seal on and no leaks ..thanks to all for the comments and help chris
