Because a boost in power/performance in the hands of someone who has not had a street bike before puts you, and others on the road, in danger.

I have the waiver for the DMV, just waiting to get a bike and go in all at once at register it, plates, class M license, etc.... I took my temp test weeks before so I could ride a buddys bike and we went on a few trips.

 

That is just my opinion...take it or a leave it. But I would think about your "friends" and if they are really looking out for you when telling you to buy a 900....

And the fact that you think a 600 is "slow" just worries me.......

Actually, I didn't want to spend above 2,000 dollars. I was fine with a CBR600 but then I couldn't find one for under 2500... all the ones I found for 2500 were beat to ****... 5-6 cracks all over the bike, plastics are all scraped to ****, 25k miles or higher, and other problems... so I was like okay... I'll spend 3k but thats it. Been looking for two weeks and have not found any CBR 600s that are decent. I'd like a little bit newer CBR600 and I'd be happy. I wasn't looking for a CBR900, this one just came along and I thought, why not? You know? If I could find a decent 600 for 2500ish to 2800ish, I'd be all over it... not a lot in this area (the 900 is 210 miles away).

That make sense?

 

I wouldn't get a bigger bike just because you can't find a 600... one will come along trust me. You gotta have patience.

And again I don't mean to come off like a d**k but I am giving you my own words of wisdom. A 600 is PLENTY fast for the street. If someone is telling you otherwise they are probably a. a squid, or b. a squid. Which if you listen to them could get you killed.

 

You're not a d**k. I appreciate your feedback. I've ridden a ZX-9R and handled it fine, so I understand where you're coming from, I would not recommend a beginner get a 900 either, I guess I am more confident in my abilities than other "new" riders I know.

That being said, I am still looking for a CBR 600, they get better mileage too if I remember that correctly. I am just not waiting forever lol, I am eager to ride!

What do you think of 94 CBR 600 F2, has 24k miles, body is in GREAT shape, rides and runs well, he wants 2k.

thats the mentality i had right before i got tossed on my *** and found myself in the emergency room. dirt and grass is WAY more forgiving than pavement and trees.....just like above, no offence, but in my opinion, a good couple years of experience on a 600 is needed before moving up to a bigger bike, and after that couple years ill be willing to bet you will have so many close calls you wont bother going bigger.

 

even a 600 is is too much for a beginning rider, sorry but I wouldnt advise on getting a 600 let alone a 900 for your first bike, start with a 250 or 500 at the most...develop your skills and then move up when you are more experienced
