Default good deal?

Hello everyone. I too like MarkC am looking at buying a 900RR. I found what I think is an excellent deal on a 93. Here's the link

http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/1913020657.html

Those that are more familiar with this bike, what say you? I'm just looking for something to tool around town and do short trips with. I was looking for an SV650 simply because I have had two and love them. I also just love Vtwins in general. I've always loved CBRs as well. All of them actually. This one just looks fantastic and the price is right. Besides, my endurance on an SV was limited as well and I'm thinking it will be limited on the CBR also. I'm thinking of getting a cruiser for any real trips out here in Western Colorado.

I'm not overly worried about any maintenance issues so long as they are routine. How hard is it to really rag these bikes out? Is that something I should be concerned with or are they pretty dang tough?

I've read the issues about the charging system. I'm very good electrically so that doesn't concern me really. I'm wondering though, has anyone put a modern MOSFET R/R on their bike? That was something that was a common problem on SV's as well. You could go with a CBR600F4 r/r or just run the wires straight back to the battery using a bigger gauge to fix any charging problems. Has anyone done this on their 900RR?

I'll keep poking around on the forum some more but in the mean time, what would be considered a deal killer on this bike, anything? Is there anything that I should look for that would cause me to walk away instantly? I'm looking for model specific issues since I know nothing about these bikes.

Oh, are these bikes rare at all? By that I mean should I simply not consider pulling the plastics off the bike and making it into a street fighter with dirt bike handle bars etc because of limited production numbers? Don't worry I wouldn't trash anything. I just haven't a clue on build numbers of value or anything really.

Thanks everyone.

For my '93 900rr, parts are hard to find.

When I had to get a new wiring harness for the bike....there wasn't anyone who made them....or at least there wasn't anyone I could find.

The Honda tech had to fix my old one, and it probably saved me a lot of money anyway so it pretty much worked to my benefit.

That bike, with the brand new paint job....looks very clean.

Is that 25,000 on the motor only? Or is that 25,000 miles on the motor and the bike total?

Are those original miles?

How many owners has that bike had? Has it ever been raced? Crashed how many times and if so, how badly?

Is the title clear or salvage (rebuilt)?

The speedometers are very easy to change on that bike so the mileage or actual mileage would be a question for me.

How does the bike actually ride? Does it ride straight? No bent forks, or rims?

Looks very clean, but with the new paint job it looks like it may have been through the ringer and restored.....then again, maybe not.
