usually a hole has to be cut in the farings. Swingarm sliders/spools usually have a mounting tab on the swingarm. Some have a threaded rod that goes thru the rear axle.

ok- and the frame sliders- where the heck are they supposed to screw into? is there already a spot on the frame or do u have to mount something on the frame to make them work?

Frame sliders will come with a new bolt and the sliders. They bolt into the upper motor mount on both sides. Some have "no cut" sliders meaning you wont have to cut the plastic (with a hole saw) to fit the slider through. The mounting location is under the plastics on both sides. The no cuts will be easier to install and save plastic but heed warning that they also dig in more and have more leverage to rip your motor mount bolt out of the head if they dig into dirt or grass.....THAT is a PITA to fix!! Shorter and "cut" style are better....they are only to save the frame in the event of a get off.......if it saves your plastic consider yourself lucky because that is not thier intention. Crash bars are better for that type of stuff.

Yeah and make sure the sliders you get are plastic. They are supposed to weardown to absorb impact and slow the bike down as it slides. Getting aluminum ones will cause you problems.

Please be sure the sliders is a good one and fixed properly. A buddy of mine low sided recently and the first thing to break was the slider and the rest needless to say. Not sure how far its true, I've heard too that a direct impact to the slider when the bike goes down will cause the frame to crack.
