forks: identifying the year
Hello,
I picked up a set of forks on eBay that were supposedly for a 96 CBR900RR (will be mounting them to my VTR1000 as an upgrade). The guy who sent them to me also included a set of brake calipers and triple clamps. Here, then, is where the plot thickens. While the triple clamps are obviously the correct ones, the calipers he included are clearly for the 98-99 model CBR. My questions are the following:
1) Is there an easy way to distinguish the pre-98 forks (designed to work with 296 mm rotors) from the 98-99 forks (designed to work with a 310 mm rotor)? I have the forks sitting in the box and wonder if there are any identifying marks that I could see to determine real quickly?
2) In the event that it is a 98 fork, can I still use my current front wheel with the 296 mm rotors ?
thanks in advance
P.S. eBay can be great... can be![/align]
