Final test: charging issues
Well, as some of you might remember, my '93 Honda 900rr has a new rectifier and the darn thing works like a charm! Thank you everyone for your advice and encouragement during some really dark days. [&o]
The old one was making my stator overcharge my battery and almost killed it.
Now, with the new rect. the battery is charged at just a hair over 1500 rpm, that's right.....just past idle!
To make sure everything was okay, I just went on a 2 1/2 hr ride and made sure to make the bike idle a lot in traffic with the radiator fan running to really tax the battery, and to see if the charging system was up to the task.
When I used the voltmeter on the battery with the bike off...the battery showed a FULL charge

Thank you Dinez! It was a great ride one of the best on the 9 so far.
And it was even better because I wasn't afraid the bike would die on me and leave me stranded like before.
Next ride, I'll try to stretch it to four hours minimum

Thanks Duke and X!
It is a good feeling not having to push this thing off the road and out of traffic anymore.
But it's not over yet. I still have to take it to Honda and get the new headlight installed.
2-hour job. $150. [&o]

But the real test is what is the reading on the battery at 5k rpm with all that turned on. If it's over 14.5 you still have issues and can potentially melt your ECU. I went through all that recently as well (battery, stator, reg all replaced) I'm still spot checking it to make sure it's all working right.

That ECU will burn a big hole in your wallet, Mr. Wallet!
Nah, I guess everything is running pretty cool MT, those Honda fellas should have anticipate and tested what Stynk had mentioned!

Why stynk? Why did you have to bring that up? [&o][
