I have my motor out and I can see gasket maker on the block so its been apart at some point. I can tell its not recent. I don't know if its good or bad but we'll see when it runs.

So on back side of the head up near the valve cover has some engraving it says BLU 22 written by hand. Anyone know why that would be there?

 

I'm interested as well- I was told in the past, that they were builders marks- like what it is- special edition, quality control, 49 state, etc but it made little sense…
I just picked up an engine, and I have a similar, handwritten engraving on same spot on my head too..

NOW I'M REALLY CURIOUS!
