Default Dynojet kit stg1

I recently bought a 1997 RRV, I was given a Dynojet kit by the bikes previous owner , the bike has a standard air filter and exhaust.
On dismantling the carbs I found it already had a Dynojet kit fitted, the slides had been drilled as per Dynojet instructions, it had 118 mains and the needles were on the 3rd notch from the top.
Dynojet instructions said it should be 116 jets and 4 th notch for the needles so I made that change.
on riding the bike it ran fine but power was noticeably down in the mid range so I swapped back to 118 and 3rd notch for the needle clips.
the power was restored!, so I thought I’d mention it for anyone installing a stg1 kit.

My set up
standard air box and filter
Standard exhaust
118 main jets
needle clips 3rd notch from the top of the needles
one washer under the needle clip, one above.
pilot screws 2.25 turns out.
Float heights 13.7mm

Goes like stink!, fuel economy has probably taken a dive in comparison to a completely stock set up but who cares! 😄

PS during the above I replaced the float valves with Tourmax items, they didn’t seal, I contacted 2 carb specialists, they both said don’t use aftermarket float valves, they are very likely to leak.
I refitted the original ones because they weren’t leaking, really I should have ordered original replacements, however they are £29 each!, as a precaution I rebuilt the vacuum petcock, glad I checked it because the vacuum shut off wasn’t working.
