Cluster/speedo LED bulb replace on older model bikes
#21
Hey guys, I just pull the gauges...piece of cake. 3 screws, pull it out, then unscrew the speedo, one my 94 there is 7 large bulb & 2 smaller a ones...it comes right off like a plug & there is plenty of room for the led bulb.
I'll post some pic shortly...I'm going to order the led now, since it does fit.

Ok, one screw in the center, one top left, one bottom.....pull the speedo out, disconnect the speedometer cable. Disconnect 2 socket electrical wiring to the right. Be gentle, don't crack the plastic socket.
Each bulb comes right off, don't pull on the wire, pull the rubber housing.
7 big, 2 small: double checking bulb type before ordering....I want like purple for my RPM..LOL

Bluegauges did and LED conversion and reverse EL install for the F4i cluster I put on my 98. Before that I had a set of the reverse EL faces on my 98 cluster. I did it myself and used the same kit bluegauges uses...you can get them from streetracerparts.com (streetracerparts.com). Just an option...

So I got all the led light bulbs from superbrightled.com
I went with blue led...it works! But you have to try one at a time. Install one, if it does not light up, pull it & turn 180 degree. I first install all 9 bulb at once, then just 2 work...I was bum, thought something was wrong? So I pull the ones that don't light up, turn it 180 degree (reverse) then it works....then light is much brighter, more intense than the old filament bulb.

Guess what, both blue gauge & street race part website do not offer 93-94 cbr900rr. Only 95' and up....guess too old of model they don't invest....but they do for the 600 F
