CBR died while driving: updated
So my cbr900 just sputtered out and died while I was riding. I checked pulse generator, primary and secondary coils, I have spark and new plugs, it didn't drop the cam chain, i don't have and sticky valves, and the carbs are cleaned and have no plugs.
So my last idea is the spark control unit is fried? Shop Manuel has no test procedure for it though. Ideas????

Same thing on mine. Thought it was a fuel lock problem. Turned out it was the voltage regulator. It had heated up to the point it melted the plug and shorted out. New one was $190 at my dealer. I spent 3 hrs and slowly broke the plastic plug apart saving all the individual wires. I reconnected all the wires into the voltage regulator using heat shrink and liquid electrical tape to reseal everything up tight. Another issue I had was the fuel regulator and pump. At the track oneday the pump puked out on me. Another 900rr racer came over and told me to yank it all out(the pump and fuel regulator). He said I didn't need it.. What??? are you crazy??? yepp direct connected the fule line to the carbs and went with gravity flow. Runs better but I have to absolutely shut off the fuel after every ride. Abother thing you might try is the fuel vent hose..is it clear???
p.s. the regulator was not fried but after charging the battery it would only run for a few laps before sputtering out and dieing..would not start till I recharged the battery..then I found the melted plug.
