Default CBR 6/9 - Looking for 900RR Engine Swap info

I've searched and searched, can't find a single source of information to determine whether or not I want to take on the 900RR swap into an F2 or F3 frame. There are a few users here who have done the swaps in the past, @rsp919 @bindelsf2 come to mind.

I'm hoping to gather as much information as possible over the next couple of months and put it all together in one coherent thread. I might just have a project to document the process with pictures/videos along the way.

Do you have Solidworks or some kind of 3D modeling program?

Makes it much, much easier to do swaps. Measure everything 1st, then layout both bikes. Then just drag & drop 900 engine across onto 600 frame lining up output-shaft locations. Then connect gaps between engine & frame's motor-mount locations. Software can then spit out drawings for custom motor mounts you just designed. Print out, lay on top of real metal and cut to fit.

No software, at least not yet. I've seen quite a few swaps over the years but most of them were hack-jobs at best, not something I'd like to ride, or let anyone else ride. I have no plans to cut the frame, saw the input from the members here to avoid that. I do have a 900 engine that I can empty everything out of and use for a mock-up.

Seeing the 954-swapped 900RR got me to thinking...

Yeah, no need to hack up frame. No need to empty-out engine, just place on wood-block at operating height. Then hang frame from garage beams and lower over engine. Measure as needed.

In some cases, you can weld on new tabs for mounting. Can also end up making Z-shaped bracket to bridge gap between engine & frame.

I have a lead on a 919 engine from a Hornet, might use that as it has the extra mounting points on the front of the engine. I can swap my 900RR head onto it and use the carburetors, all F3 wiring, coils etc.
