blinker question

Brrrrrrrr, I don't think I'd work either at those temps....yeah, I'm spoiled in California. I'm no mechanic, just kicking in my opinion, but I'd bet it's just the blinker relay needing some warmth to function properly. It's gotta be mechanical in nature (thus the clicking), so it could be the mechanical side is too cold to do it's thing. I've actually always wondered how those relays worked......might go find out tonight (late night curiosity usually gets me in trouble with the wife, so maybe not...). If it's anything like a self-resetting breaker, there's a bi-metal strip that opens contact when it warps due to heat (too high a current load for too long) and closes contact when the bi-metal strip cools...might be similar. If so, there's probably no problem, just needs the warmth from the engine rising to work right!?!?
