99 cbr 900rr - brought it home today
both motors I have are 919's, I will be dropping the trans in when i get some free time. I did think of that already, the gears are a bit diff in size but i've heard the 99 have better trans than the older models.
Its been awhile but i have gotten the rims powder coated and new bearings, the carbs are soaking in cleaner, and the plastics and tank are painted up ready for clearcoat. once I get the tires mounted and start putting it all together Ill get some new pics on here.
So I did find out that the tranny is different. the shift drum is a different size. The 99 is longer. the 97 tranny that I have is about 1/2 inch shorter. found that out after I put it in. the shift forks are the same. not forsure about the gears. my problem is the shift drum. so I have a tranny from a 96-97 I have been told sitting in my garage.
I have got my 900rr back up and running, the trans shifts good rides great. I have a problem after running it for about 5 min, it sat and cooled down and did not want to crank over. then about 15 min later it seem to start fine. It did that again after riding it for a short time, and then when the motor spun over it dumped fuel out of my air tube on the right side of the carbs. This was not just a lil fuel it was a bunch, not sure if my motor blew head gasket or something and caused the back pressure or my carbs are still f**ked. I did notice the no. 2 cylinder also had fuel at the manifold like it was not firing.
Thanks for any help. Still unsure if the motor is about to lock up or bad wiring and starter which all worked fine before the rebuild.

I'm thinking carbs. One, or some, of them dumped fuel into the cylinder and locked it up until enough bled past the rings. The rest got pushed up through an intake valve opening. make sure you check your oil for fuel.
Thanks for the info, I have did some tests and removed the fuel system, rechecked my electrical. Seems the petcock is dumping fuel out even turned off and i had a bad ground. And yes the oil did have fuel mixed. It cranks over fine now, glad its just a fuel issue.
