Default 99 900rr shuts off when bar turned left

Hello all, would appreciate some help with my 99 900rr. I just got it used a couple weeks ago, and it just started doing this this past weekend. When I turn the bar more than half way to the left it shuts off. Like I turned the key, gauges go dark and it shuts off. I can get it to do it repeatedly, turn left it shuts off, come back towards center and it comes back on. Sounds to me like an igniton problem, any other ideas? How hard is it to replace the ignition switch?

Thanks in advance.

little update, i started fiddling with the wires that come off the ignition cylinder and it seems one is broken. by fiddling with the wires i can get the bike to turn on or off, so i had to tape the wire in a good spot in order to get it home. so it looks like i just have some wiring to work on, probably (hopefully) won't need a new cylinder.

Was just gonna say that's your prob. You don't need a new cylinder.

thanks johnnyx, you were right. looks like the two switched wires from the cylinder got crushed somehow, broken, then shorted on each other. got them stripped, re-connected, and taped it all back up, and everything is back to normal now. thanks again.

you need to find out exactly which wire or wires it is then solder them and heat shrink them because if those wire get water in there or corrode then you have a nightmare of problems that will stem from there just make sure to do it right but slices are not doing it right!
