Default '99 900RR broken engine mount

Hey guys, i'm looking at a '99 900RR to buy. Problem is that i saw that he had frame sliders on it mounted on the engine mounts right beside the fuel petcock. the left side one broke off the mounting ear on the engine case and the right side one bolt broke off when the bike fell over...on both sides!! The tabs on the frame are unharmed, and i can remove the broken bold. I'm just worried about the broken ear on the engine case. Has anyone experienced this? Should I just run it missing 1 engine mount bolt? I'm not one to let mechanical issues slide so any ideas on how to fix it without dropping the motor would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Damn, I thought that a band of brothers as tight as the CBR Forum would help out a new Honda owner!! I guess that I need to go back to Kawasucki's!!!

I did more or less the same thing, when replacing the bolt after removing the sliders/cage on my '94 I over tightened the bolt, which is longer than the standard bolt, and it cracked the mounting ear on the engine block itself. This can be fixed, welded. If you know someone that welds they can either try to fix the ear that's there or rebuild it and drill/tap for the bolt. I ran mine all last season without having that mount at all, didn't hurt anything, no shaking, not unbalanced, never knew it was gone!

Here is a picture of my mount that is broken. If this can indeed be welded to build it up and then tap it out again. Thats the way I'm gonna go. Thanks for the help!!

Here's mine, right side motor mount, I don't have a fixed pic cause I never got it fixed, just ride without it. might be dumb but there is no movement or extra vibration because of this, i feel "mostly" safe

At least you still have the chunk of metal hanging on. Mine is gone!! Anyway, I still want to fix it, but if it is cost prohibitive, I feel a little better just knowing that there are others with the same thing riding around with a broken mount!!

Thanks!!

yea, I want mine fixed too. I know a couple welders that say they can do it cheap for me, hopefully just tack it back together. Yours definately needs to be built up again, but someone should be able to do it. good luck!
