Default 98 RR

Has anyone out there put a 929 or 954 engine into a 96-99 RR frame?? I have the opportunity at a 98 RR but I don't want a carbed bike, I want the fuel injection for turbo purposes. Has anyone done it?? I have heard yes and no, but mostly its a direct bolt in project.

I'm sure anything can be done with enough money; but consider this. There's a BIG difference in engine shape just by going off the shape of the frame. The 929 954's have 2 sections to their frame. The upper that holds the front of the motor and the lower part holds the swingarm ataching section. Good luck!

The stunter Tony D ( a die hard 900rr fan) uses 929 motors in his 900rr frames. But in an old vid I have he once said he began making some mods to 900rr frames to withstand the stunting. So he may have modified the frame to fit the motor. As stated in the post above the 929 and 954 have split frames where the 900rr is a solid frame.
On another note a friend of mine who works at a local honda shop says the CB919 Hornet is honda's attemt at using up all the 919 motors they had left over from the frame change. He seems to belive that a CB919 Hornet 919 motor will mate with a 900rr and is fuel injected! I wanted to try this swap ( I blew my 98 900rr motor a few weeks ago) but it is hard to find a wrecked hornet due to the age group that would ride that bike (no young punks crashing at low miles).
But if anyone hears different or if I have all wrong info please correct me so I will know better!
Thanks, Malcolm
