98 Honda cbr 900rr tranny issues

my buddies bike has some tranny issues it grinds in 2nd but not like a constant grind but my main question is will a 2000 cbr900rr tranny work in a 98 cbr900rr fire blade

They didn't make a 900rr in 2000. It was a 929, but they have them listed as a 900rr, same with 954rrs in 02/03.
I dont think the 929 stuff will fit.

The 98-99 should be the 919cc motor, that's the only years that would fit.
