Default 98 cbr900rr

Alright, well this my first post. My name is Andrew, and I live right outside of Sioux Falls, SD. I am trading my 99 ZX-6R with 14k miles for a 98 CBR900RR with 18k miles. I am new to Hondas and bigger bikes all together. What are a few things I should look out for when I go to test ride?

+1 on that note, the torque is crazy i have a 1999 CBR 900, and it will scare you a few times.

Good luck and wellcome to the CBR (Crazy Blade Runners)

Sorry I should have worded that better. I know I am gonna have to watch out for the power. I meant more like mechanical problems that I should keep an eye out for. I have heard many good things about the reliability of Hondas, but the fact that he is willing to trade straight up just makes me cautious. When I saw his ad on Craigslist, he said he wanted to get rid of it for financial reasons being that he gets too many speeding tickets. Maybe I am just being over cautious, and that is the legit reason, but who knows.

Make sure the charging system is good.

If he has a brand new or newer battery for the bike, that may be a tip-off that the battery is not being charged by the bike anymore.

Stator/regulator/rectifier are problems for the CBR so I would check that.

Also, if it has high mileage did he ever have the valves checked for adjustment?

Idk , I've got a '98 that hasn't had to be in for service since it's 300 mile checkup about 12 years ago so I'd say it's pretty reliable.
