900rr vs 600rr
First things first I'm not a troll, I'm just curious. I am planning on getting a cbr 600 soon and noticed something. I'm kinda new to bikes and have seen a lot of people saying that cbr 900rr is a lot for a new rider. While I'm in no position to argue with people more knowledgeable than me I was wondering why. I looked up specs for a 93 cbr 900rr and it has about 124 hp. The 95 cbr 600 I plan on getting has 104 hp. (I know for a bike the difference is big) I have a friend with an 04 r6, and that has 124 hp, its his first bike. So the r6 has has equal hp but obviously the r6 is lighter. Also even newer 600s have more hp than the 900rr. So am I right or are numbers not everything. Also I guess if newer 600s are too much for new riders then I guess my argument is invalid. Thanks in advance for the responses.
It's all in the rider !! Put valintino Rossi on a 250 and he would mop the floor with a average joe on a 600 or 900. If you want a drag bike I would go for a gsxr 1100 that's stroked with a set of FCR carbs. Air shifter and 1/4 throttle set up !! An r6 revs and has power band like a track bike power is all up top . I like liter bikes because the power comes in early and it has alittle more weight .
. They glide like hell fire missiles !

i went from a 250 to a 97 cbr 900 the difference is enormous. ive ridden friends 600's . i find that my 900 pulls dramatically more on the start. the 600 will pull the same but at higher revs. i always beat him speed wise. but that rider skill plays a big part in that it's probably closer then i'd like to think if it were against people of similar skill. oh and my bike is considerably larger then his. not nearly as nimble. the older you go the bigger the bikes get.
i would go for the 900 rr anytime.i had a cbr 600 and there is no contest, the 900 rr has much more grunt ,not changing gear as much and just a lovely bike to ride ,it is very easy to ride and at the end of the day will only go as fast as your right hand allows, maybe ime just bias because ive got one and love it .
I'll give my own 3 cents. Start with the 600. I've ridden for since I was 16, now 50. The road I grew up on is Called the Ilion Gorge, it's 7 miles of curves. (Google link at the end)Each year it claims at least a few riders, some experienced and some new.
Does it depend on the person? Sure, however, each year it seems that more new riders end up over matched for their bike and then some bad things happen.
The 600, to me can be a great entry bike. A year, maybe 2, sell/trade and get the 900. Hell even if you were looking for a standard bike the Nighthawk 750 is a great starter bike and it's a 750, but has nowhere near the capability of the 600, in my opinion.
My 3 cents.

both the cbr 900 and 600 are very light and wheelie happy. if this is your first bike i recommend the 600, get beginners bike and more forgiving. beside the 600 will always be a great bike to keep no need to trade up, not a ninja 500.
I just bought myself a 2004 cbr600 f4i as my fist motorcycle. I have some dirt bike riding experience but only a few years. The 600 is a great machine, I want to learn to be a great rider on it then jump up to the bigger bikes. If you ask me I would say get the 600 and learn to be a great rider then shoot for a bigger bike...my friend just bought a 250r the other week for his first bike and he already regrets it (don't get a 250!).
