Default 900 swap questions

New cbr owner.I just got a 99 cbr900rr and on new years eve trans locked up. I got it unstuck. I thought it was my gear box but found a chip in my shifting drum. I dont have a lot of money and its not a common year trans for sale. I was hoping i could swap the drum and gear box for a newer year or even a 1000 trans.

Take a picture of it. If it's just the drum - that's a pretty cheap and easy fix (considering you must have the motor apart already). How do the shift forks look?

Talking Thanks

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful. I took pics and will post them soon. I checked the bay and found a tranny and forks, shaft, and drum for a good price. I do have it all apart now waiting on a little money and it's mine
