91 cbr 600 f2 engine swap questions???
Alright so i bought me another cbr 600 f2 (just cause there so FREAKING AWESOME) and im completely customizing it. So far i have painted it pearl blue, put f3 front fairings, side fairings and a F4i tail. I put wheelie sprocket and yoshi exhaust system. And a stg1 jet kit, the bike is pretty cool... Im going to drop it 3" and extend it 12" as soon as i get some more money to blow. Im pretty happy with the power, it has a SH*T load taking off through the gears, but I WANT MORE! So im REALLY interested in doing a cbr 900rr engine swap. Ive done a lil research and from what i have read it shouldnt be that difficult? So if you have any info on how, or what actually needs to be done to make it work WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

sounds like a fun project, but 12" stretch just sounds like WAY too much to me. I've seen bikes with 12" stretches in real life, 90% of them look really crappy. I think that a 6" stretch is plenty unless you ONLY wanna go straight ahead and forget turning.
not trying to say you've got a bad idea, just that it usually doesnt look that great. no disrespect intended toward you.
I'm thinking if you REALLY wanna have some fun with it, get an F4i motor, beef up the internals, and turbo it. I think that'd be a REALLY REALLY cool upgrade over just a 900RR motor swap like everyone else does.

Ya I talked to some of my buddies that i ride with and they told me the same thing... That i should just extend it 6"-8" So i still will have some turning ratio... So im proabably going to go with 6"... And about the F4i swap how exactlly does that work? Is it alot of work? And thanks for your opinion! It is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure exactly how hard it is to do, but it'd be a very different build for sure, and VERY fun. I only really suggest an F4i motor because its fuel injected, and therefore not so complicated to tune for boost. carbs require vacuum to work, turbos pretty much eliminate that so, yeah. FI doesnt care.
I know someone who built his own turbo busa, and I'm pretty sure its a fair bit of work if you want a REALLY high performance motor. you can build the mechanicals yourself, but have a PRO tune it afterward to make sure it runs right and doesnt just grenade and pretty much burn up $5000 or something.

I have a 93 CBR F2 with a 2002 F4i Engine. I bought it like that, but the swap seems pretty much straig forward. I have more details and some picture of the mounts in a post in another forum: http://www.fireblades.org/forums/hon...tml#post894594
I'll be doing this swap soon to another bike and 'll be taking picture all the way along.

Okay here is my situation. I have a 1996 f3 frame and the motor and everything else is a 91-94 f2. not sure what year. is it possible to put f2 or f3 fairings on it? Will i need to modify the fairings a little? thanks for the help. Im green to the customizing thing.
The F4i swap is way better and it's quite easy. Basicaly you just need to make some brackets for the tail, and if you want to be able to undo the swap, then make some L brakets for the sides and drill the frame and bolt the brackets. That way you'll be able to remove them and put the f2/3 back. The only tricky part is the front stay, but it shouldn't take more than 5 days to complete the swap, in my case, my father in law runs a shop where he makes som 9 second cars so I had everything I needed.
In the link on my previous post is another link for a gallery of DementedF3, by just looking at the pictures you'll know what to do. And you'll get crazy with the final product.
