Is a 1997 CBR 900RR worth 2,000.00?
Ok, Im new to this particular forum, I have tried a few others and they simply suck so hopefully this one will be better! I recentlly stumbled upon a 1997 CBR 900RR sitting in a guys barn. The bike has 14,000 miles on it and it's been sitting in the barn for a couple years. I asked the guy if he would be intrested in getting rid of the bike, he said he would sell it for 2,800 bucks, I offered him 1,500 knowing that he wouldnt take that but that we could meet in the middle from there. I got him down to 2,000 for the bike! The bike itself is pretty much white and yellow and If i recall there may be a little blue in the color scheme. Is this a stock scheme? I have never seen it on a bike before. The tank has a few small dents in it on one side, other than that the bike is in pretty good shape! I rode the bike and checked fluids and everything seemed to be ok! So what do you think guys should I buy the thing or what? Also, can someone PLEASE tell me a good site to find aftermarket parts for the bike?
So it seems as though it's a good deal, I guess I will pony up the cash and go get the bike! Now onto the next question(s).... I have been looking online and cant seem to find any good sites for parts, aftermarket parts mainly... I will be painting the bike a semi-deep blue with chrome flake and Im going to use chrome decals, I have been trying to find either a blue-chrome or plain chrome windshield but cant seem to find anything for a '97, everything is for '98 and newer! Also, cant find anything, anywhere about being able to relocate the exhaust from the side of the bike to above the rear tire! Somebody must know some of this stuff.....Thanks

Any pics? Close-up pics are better.
Has the bike been crashed? Is the seller the original owner?
Was it ever raced? Salvage title or clear title?
If I remember it right, the mileage on the newer Fireblades can be incorrect esp. if the gearing was changed. The original Fireblade, the 1993, ran the odometer via the front tire.
The newer versions like yours are run via the sprocket I think, and if they put on a different sized sprocket, it will not log accurately.
I also don't recall any Fireblade having yellow and blue....maybe if it's a European bike, but even so.
I will have pics this weekend when I go to pick it up! The guy said he bought the bike new, so that would make him the original owner i guess. Title is clear he said. The paint doesnt so much matter to me because my brother owns a body shop so he can paint it for me if i see fit. Bike has two new tires on it, still got the little nubbies on them! it also has a vance&hines full pipe if that stuff adds to the value at all.
ok, all that aside, I have been looking around online and can't really seem to find any good sites for aftermarket parts! there are a couple that have this and a couple that have that but none of them seem to be the total package. I have been able to find most things I have been lookin for to dress the bike up a bit more but cant seem to find much in the way of windscreens, would like to put a chrome or chrome/blue one on and can't find squat for the 93-97 models, tons of stuff out there for the 98 models, would they interchange or no? from what i know the fairings on the 98 are just different enough that i don't believe it would fit. does anybody know of a good site or what the interchanging of parts possibility would be?

I often did google searches under the Fireblade for various years just to see what the magazines had to say about the bike way back when it was new, their test rides, first impressions, and often in those articles they will say what changes were made between the various years the Fireblade was built.
In some years, nothing was changed except for maybe better mirrors that had less vibration, etc.
Try a wikipedia search too.
