I would stick with the reccomended size. Unless you know for-sure something diffrent will work...You should probably get some medium/soft or soft if you want them sticky. Of course the stickier or softer the less tire-life.

This question has been asked quite frequently, I was bored and checked out Donlop's website and the say that the 180/55/17 & 190/50/17 both fit 5.5-6.0" wheels. So they answer is YES you can safely run the 190 on the CBR900RR with the 5.5" rear wheel

I'm not so sure that "Fitment" is an indication of safety or performance.

You can 'Fit' alot of things in alot of places . . . if only that was the only measure of correct.

Metzler M3 front best 16 you can get, and Pirelli Angel st 190 on back.....or M3 190.

I'm on my 1st angel tire and love it for warm months so far and it's got I'd say 5,000 on it and still going strong. Youtube search it. Lol won an award and all.

Got a 190 on my stock rim on my 95 also. this bike is 90% track ridden and after the install the handling improved in the corners for me. You end up with more contact patch. By going 190 over the 180 you are gaining 5mm on each side..thats all.

180 is more flickable. I only run 190's and hang off my bike.

Default 190 on the rear

Since I am somewhat new to this bike(summer of 2009). My perception might be a little off. Maybe it was just that the combo of the new tire and being wider gave me the mental confidence to go faster(after 3 warm up laps)and harder lean into the corner. I also that weekend added the 17" front wheel. I also had the suspension professionaly tuned. To me the bike seemed crisper in the corners and the transision from turn 5 to turn 6 snapped? a little easier. I was able to come out of 4 quicker faster transision thru 5-6 and improved my top speed at the end of turn 6 by 10mph and the end of the straight by 5mph. I have been out in my shop a few times to day and it is amazing how much fatter that 10mm makes the tire look.Race weekend I will pay more attention to the response in the corner transision and see if it really is harder to flop it thru them. I need to do a track day at seattle and really test this thing.

Shannon, one of the female racers, was in turn 3 working the corner with my daughter and told us that I was over doing the "hang off my bike". She told me that with men our hips seem to follow our shoulders more than a woman will. So start the lean with my shoulders and my hips follow. I was also putting my knee too far out. I am new to this and am sucking up any info I can get.

I got wide dirtbike bars. I'm sticking to hanging off. But a 180 leans faster than a 190. But on a 900 I'd stick to the 190 for sure. However I'm about to light my bike on fire.
