Default 190/55 tyres

Has anyone tried these on there 900 as opposed to the 180/55.I am running 190/50 pilot powersat the moment and it seems to tip in OK but have never had a 180 to compare.I can get second hand 190/55 dunlop 209s.I have a track day next weekend and cant decide whether to put on of these on.

Cheers mark

will not feel like a 180 on a 5.5in rim. 190s are made for 6in rims.

True. But compared to the 190/50 it should turn in way quicker.I am worried it will turn in too quick.

On Sportrider.net there are two or three articles that compare 180 and 190 tires side by side on the 5.5 inch rim. They said that the 190 on the 5.5 is a mismatch, and changes the profile in a way that makes the bike handle like the tire has been squared off from two much highway. Bottom line is 180 for 5.5 rims, 190 for six inch.

Basically with the 190/50 you get good turn but with a slightly larger contact patch. A lot of racers run 190/50 tires.

Yes i have trolled the net looking for articles but most deal with 190/50 as opposed to 190/55. the 55 should negate the squared off feel.Has anyone tried this profile?
