1000rr markings!
I'm VERY new to the forum. The number 1 reason I joined was to tap the knowledge around here on the CBR's. Number 2 is this. I have 2 cbr900's in my shop for paint. One is a 99 & one is a 03 954. Both the owners want 1000rr markings on these bikes. This is bothering me big time. They are both clean bikes in great shape. Low Ohio miles and not beat up. I LOVE HONDA. My first 3 bikes were Honda. And the 900 class are straight up Awesome bikes of their time, even formitable now. WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO MAKE IT A "FAKE" 1000RR? Did I miss a Honda memmo? Wiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over? Somebody help me out here, please, my brain hurts...

I prety much finished ONE of the bikes in my shop this weekend. For the record, it is a 1999 Honda CBR900RR. Nothing really bad on the bike other then some scratches and a dead battery. Clean bike, well taken care of, Micon full system, K&N air cleaner. Mostly stock beyand that.
It's not easy work making stuff fit that's wrong. That's what happined when the Hot Boddies hugger fender was dropped off to me by the bike's owner. It's for a CBR600, not this 900. I had the origion mission of patching up bad paint spots and tripping off the vynals and replacing them with stock looking burgandy ones. This grew into alot more crap.
So the owner got the idea that some guy could paint the yellow part of his bike to look like a "bolwling ball" OK, at this point I figued "screw it, if I don't have to peel stickers and sand and prime the tank go for it".
When it came back it was a Marble effect. Hell, I did that before. Down side was this rocket scientist painted OVER the decals & it was full of dust and runs. More work for me fixing the crap. Lovely.
.............
I got the pics uploaded so here it is. In all it's fake 1000rr glory with more than 'nuff flashing-strobing-blinking LEDs to cause an epileptic seizure. And YES, a beer or two did help.
The next bike rolling out is a CBR954RR that came in with 1000 stickers.... Gonna be an all black one with reds graphics & NO size markings! I talked the owner into "fire blade" decals on it. Maybe I can redeam myself.

Thanks. I did try and tell them that very same thing. The 900's are classic "smart super bikes" , power to weight, braking and turning, still run in liter class, BUT NOOOOO! Well, at least I got the 954 guy to run the "fireblade" marking with the paint he wanted.

heck Id like to trade in my 954rr sticker on the tail for rr ones. but thats just because everyone thinks its a 600cc untill they are looking at its rear. Of course people as a whole are lazy and dont read. so I may just leave it. But if i did change it, it would all be oem decals. I just dont like the big white area on my tail section. I have white no where else on my bike. Why honda, why. and a addition I'm not sure anyone else caught the "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" in your first post. I thinks thats just a military thing. I say that alot since I have been in Iraq.

Slower progress on the 954 than I would have liked. I wanted it test rode and out of here today before work. Buffing out black paint is allways fun. Who ever did the wiring for the turn indicatiors on this bike was a moron & I spend more time than I wanted fixing that mess soldering and running the wire for the turn indicator mirrors. Still waiting on the owner to bring me the passenger seat back as well. I will be putting in for a day off for one day this week and hope to get it so it's out by weeks end...
