i wouldn't waste your money on a 250. I bought a used 600cc (97 FZR600) to learn how to ride. If you dump it, its used and you won't crap a brick like you would if you scratched our precious RR....good luck man with whatever you decide to do. Plus the older 600's don't have as much kick as the new ones do

I guess the reason I bought mine was I have always wanted a CBR since high school. A few friends of mine had them and I always wanted one so when I could afford one I got it. I also liked the looks, performance and price of mine compared to the others.

In most and even epxert hands all the 600 are realtivley the same as far as performance goes and the rider is the diffrence maker. That being said it comes down to personal prefrence. Personally Honda's have hands down the best engineering, craftsman ship, reliability, if you are splitting hairs always the lead or nipping on the heels of whatever the "performance" leader is.

Honda's are the bench mark that everything else is measured by.

Just my opinion.

The "fastest" one really does come down to the rider like said above unless they are all Pros that are riding.

The one thing i love about my RR is it's Smooth acceleration through all RPM'S(given that once you hit 8 grand it takes off like mad). But the thing i dislike about the yamaha street bikes is that they are like a 2 stroke, which in the city can be unsafe if your not paying attention.

Honda refinement you don't get it with any other motorcycle. The italians use very pretty components but are high strung! The english don't lead they follow, far behind. Don't even let me start with Eric Mule and his tank O' SH%# A.K.A The STRIPPED BOLT. The other Japanese big three might be little faster or handle a little better, but the Hondas do everything very well with out drama.
