Default What's this called?

Hi guys,

Was wondering if any of you know what the black plastic housing is called under the tail section that holds the rear light and all? I know the battery box seems to be a different piece so I was wondering what the big piece is called and if anyone knows where I might could find one? I am looking on ebay but haven't found anything yet.

I ask because my tailight wasn't fitting right to the tail section so I took everything off to find out why because it was annoying, and saw where the former owner had done a terrible hack job it seems to me on fitting the integrated tailight onto the bike. There was also a spot where there were zip ties holding on a piece of the plastic. The mess you find when you start taking stuff apart......

So anyway, I want to replace that whole part and do it right. Please let me know where I might could find one....Thanks a bunch!!!!

you prolly gonna have to go to the dealership, they could prolly order it, or if you are lookin for a cheaper way, you might want to try a junk yard and pull it off..

Ebay and patience is your friend. knowing what year 600RR would help, as the 07/08 had the taillight on the rear fender, and the 03-06 had it inside the tail.

Withthat said, you are looking for the undertail, (undertray), or even the battery tray (on the 07+ it is a single piece all the way from the front of the battery tray to the very tip of the tail)

Just search ebay for your particular year of cbr 600rr and you should find what you're looking for within a couple of weeks at a really good price.

Thanks to all who replied. mrcycles helped a lot with the 'blown apart' diagrams. From what I can see maybe $40 there? Still a little confused about how to fix this whole thing but I will come up with something. The pics look so different from my actual bike. I think mine was just rigged up crazy by the last guy. Either way, looks like it's called the rear cowl, and the bike is an 04 RR.

Thanks a bunch guys, appreciate it a lot!!!

Hi everyone,
Wanted to say thanks again for the advice. It is the heat shield that is all messed up that I need. And lucky me, I found one on ebay for $13.60!! Awesome!

So thanks to all you guys cause I went to all the sites you suggested and all helped. Plus, all these sites seemed a great place to get replacement parts in the future should I need them. Again, thanks so much!
