Sounds just like the instruction I give in the driving school I teach. ANY warm body can push down on a gas pedal and hold it. What happens when we slow down, stop, turn, shift, etc., THAT is where the skilled driver REALLY comes out.

Is an emergency stop on a bike similar to a car? That is: the tires are "just" starting to talk to you through slight howl, not fully locked up, just barely rotating??? What are your techniques on the bike?

 

This is probably the best thread I've read so far on this site. I'm a noob as well, '05 being my first season, and I definately appreciate all of you taking the time to type all this stuff out. A lot of it I've heard before, some I haven't, but ALL is worth hearing again.
