Thats the exact reason why I was debating selling/tradeing it. Because dealers are already only looking to give me about $3,500 for a trade-in value. I can only imagine how much lower it will be next season.

But dropping or wrecking a new RR because of newbie rider error, is also up there on my fear list =) So it is a toss up, and why i'm torn on what to do.

do what is going to make you happy now. If you drop the kawi youll have less value in that and will still be a step away from your goal of buying the bike you want....make the move now

I would never trade in anything. Whenever you plan on getting rid of the ZZR, sell it private party. Then use the cash as a down payment.

Couple of the other guys make good points about rookie mistakes. I'm very careful and very confident about being able to take care of my F4i, but I'm not sure I would trust myself on a new bike just yet.

(Not sure I mentioned, this F4i is my first bike as of about a month ago.)

Well on top of being a LITTLE tight on cash, its not only hard trying to sell something right now, but I also don't have one of the most sought after Kawi's. If it were a Kawi ZX-6R or something thats different, the ZZR600 isn't exactly a highly sought after bike. And is very hard to sell privately.

In FACT thats exactly why I have it. The guy at work tried selling his privately, even on e-bay for 8 months. Every month his price was lower and lower...and lower and lower. Dude barely could even give the thing away... Until finally it was so low, that it was the same price as the CBR F4i's I was looking at. And I was like well hell, for that price i'd rather have an 08 Kawi that I know my friend had and I know its history AND has a warranty, over an unknown old F4i.

But now that I have it, and LOVE riding, I'm on a quest for the CBR I wanted.

Now originally that was an F4i....but I kinda feel (on my own judgment) that a 2001-2002 F4i would be a "downgrade" from my current ZZR600.

sooooo i'm really torn on to get the 600RR or not.....You all have made valid points.

Didn't realize that about the ZZR. My friend bought his '05 two years ago for $5000. Maybe just different demand for them here. Or maybe he got ripped off.

I've allways owned more then one bike, but then I have a bike shop and get them cheap or bikes that need repairs. Keep the bike and just work your way to get a 600rr. You won,t regret it. Who says that because your a new rider you have to fall. Its when we get careless and over comfident that we make mistakes and have an accident. I've gone down 4 times in my riding years and they could have all been avoided accept for one. I started with a suzuki katana and had it for 6 years and just sold it a year ago. The zzr has a very nice ride and a more up right position, making it a nice long distance bike. Keep the bike and buy an rr anyway. Johnny

i vote keep it until winter. to put it in perspective for you...

I got my F4i in October of '09 for $2200 cash with 14k on it, and it needed tires. I replaced the tires, put new sprockets and a chain on it, turned around and sold it THIS MONTH for $3800. It's the time of year.. I also picked my 07 600RR up for 6k out the door from a private guy because i bought it in January. it had 2k miles on it, and was bone stock..it's worth a lot more than what i got it for.

i say wait til winter, you'll find that RR you want, and get the whole summer riding your ZZR, so you can learn from that.

I want to say get keep the kawi till next season since it's a pretty modern ride AND it's paid off. But I have the 08 B/R RR and I freaking love the looks and ride, it's my favourite of all models and years. But like many said, it's your decision.

I agree that everyone has made solid points. However, no matter how happy it makes you won't change the fact that you go in debt for it. I'm not saying I'm a financial guru, but that extra payment every month will suck. I wanted a bike ever since I got out of high school... but I saved 50 dollars a week out of every paycheck I got and I just got my bike 2 days ago and I'm 22. I don't know your financial situation, but just double check everything before you buy a newer 600RR and realize how much the extra payment would suck. If you have extra cash laying around that's different. I vote ride the Kawa and save up. See what you can sell it for next spring.
