Hi all, nice to meet you.

I just traded in my CBR F for a CBR 600 RR 2003 model. Been riding it for about two weeks and absolutely loving it, fantastic bike. However over the last week I've noticed a loud clacking/ticking noise coming from the engine once i've been riding for about 10 to 15 minutes... any ideas as to what this might be as the dealer is being a pain in the backside with sorting it out!!!

Have you checked the oil? Also do the lights dim and does the bike seem like it's about to die then wake up when you throttle it? Of course best bet is always the dealer...

 

Clutch basket? Valve adjustments? Let us know what you find out.

about valves... how offten should you have them adjusted?

 

There are 1001 threads on this topic already man.......and just about all of them prove that it's normal valve-train noise.

 

You're right there are loads of threads on this topic, and I wouldn't have posted this one having read a lot of the others already if it wasn't for the fact that this noise gets so loud that I can barely here the (pretty damn loud) Akrapovic exhaust above the ticking and clacking. Oil level looks fine to me, it's at the top of the window. Bike's back with the dealer now after a pretty major argument over them putting an Avon AV60 supersport tyre on the rear and an AV55 Storm touring tyre on the front (idiots). The rate this is going I may well end up with another RR!
