thumb brake?
posted this in the general tech but no response, plus the site wouldn't let me make a long post.
has anyone here used a thumb brake instead of the usual rear foot brake. I am thinking about getting one because i don't really lik e the foot brake, i feel lik e i don't enough control with it and i lock it up to often. because if that i usually just u se the front brakes.

I think it would work great on a super light race bike with very low sprung weight and really sensitive multi-piston calipers. Im skeptical about its practicality for street use.... The key here is leverage. If you think about it, you have enough force in your grip to use the front brake, however you are diluting the amount of input force needed because of the larger rotors, and the fact that their is two setups, causing each of them to work less hard... which = less input force. You also have to consider that you are not fighting the engine with the front brake, and you are with the rear... with half the hardware.
You might be able to rig it up in combination with the foot control as well, but that might involve setting up a separate caliper on the same rotor, which seems like a bit much for the given application....

race bike? sure, street? why? if you want something for stunting just get a stunt clutch kit. you know, a half cut brake handle and a ful length clutch handle. they are made for the stuff you want to do
