The reserve is the flashing light at the bottom of the fuel gauge. It's not a reserve in the sense that when you run out of fuel on the open setting, you flip the pet **** (no jokes, we're adults here..... ahh, who am I kidding) and have a gallon of gas to get to a station. They're counting the reserve as the flashing bar you see when run through the solid bars and the bottom one is now flashing.

Forgot to add... you will not see a pet **** valve (said it again) on a fuel-injected bike. Bad things happen when you run a fuel injection system completely dry, or I should say.... a high possibility of bad things could happen.
