Default Removing Engine Cover

I think its called the engine cover anyways... its that gunmetalish peice on the lower side of the bike where on one side you can put the oil in and on both sides of the bike the covers say honda...

anyways i dropped my bike and it got scratched up... im kind of meticulous and i want to sand it down and maybe get it powder coated a different color... just to look different and have it looking like it hasnt been downed...

anyone know whats behind these covers, and if i do remove them will i have to replace anything on the inside? both covers seem relatively easy, a couple of 6 or 8mm bolt i think...
