Now that the site seems to be working a little better...Thought i would update the build a little. Powdercoated the front brake master cylinder bracket and the rear suspension bracket. Also gutted the front intake...one of the best performance mods I've done so far...instant and noticable results. If you've never looked, your intake is baffled for EPA and noise restrictions...I removed all of it and the exhaust is louder and throatier. If you've ever seen the racing intakes..they're basically a tunnel ram...which this mod did. Also did the pair mod removing the Smog equipment if you will. Ok few pics

Up next....dynojet quickshifter, Brembo HP caliper for the rear, some weighted bar ends, a few more goodies. That pair mod was a LOT of work..bike looked like an exploded diagram. Fortunately no left over parts on the ground when we were done

Here's also a comprehensive test on why gutting the intake works: http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=106008
The PAIR is an acronym for Pulsed Air Induction Reed valve (you can see them in my pics above). It injects fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust system to help burn off fuel that was not burned in the pistons. It will cause dyno air sensors to read lean because of the fresh air injected, so it either has to be blocked off orremoved completely to dyno tune the engine. Are you going to do performance upgrades and custom mapping…then get-er-done. You also lose about 2 lbs. of crap…as you know..with a track bike and or performance with these things…weight is everything.
If you ride any distance…you know how your hands can get tingly from that buzz you get at around 5500-6000 RPM…they help dampen that out. It can be argued that you’re not using proper riding technique…but I’m lazy and like anything that helps in the comfort. They’re also crash protection…again in theory
