I would change the oil myself, but wouldn't this void the warranty? Don't we need to have the service book stamped? Sure, out of warranty period, I'll do all of the oil changes myself.
No just get the right filter and use HP4 with out moly and keep your receipts. Your warranty is for a year and nothing is going to go wrong unless your doing something wrong.

I have a 36 month extended warranty that was free, or part of the deal with my 05. I asked the dealership about the oil changes and they said to keep a record and I'd have to use Honda oil and filters. I asked if I used K&N or another good brand, would it void the warranty and they said yes. Kind of went through me. So I said "I see, make sure I keep the original Honda filter in a box and put it back on the bike if I need to have warranty work done, thanks for the tip". Kind of got that F you look from the guy selling me my bike.

look up the magson moss act (spelling?) it says that if a company requires their brand to keep the warranty valid then they have to provide the parts for free.
it also says that you can do all your own work and the dealer is required to prove that something you did is the reason why the bike(or car) broke

I went thru about 3 different wrenches and hours of running around trying to find the right one that wouldnt slip off. It was the biggest pain I've had to deal with in a while. Taking the coolant tank off helps to be able to reach it, it's only one bolt then it can just hang there. It took forever until I eventually just pounded a screwdriver thru the filter and twisted it, and it was even insanely tight then.
