Default quest for an oil change

What flavor of oil (brand and weight) do you guys recommend for the 600RR? I checked out my local shop and left with more questions than when I went in. When the two guys trying to help me had a difference of opinions, I just left. With, or with out Molly was the question? One said I should use oil with Molly and the other said no.

The first two bikes I owned (91 F2, 95 900RR) I used 10 w40 suzuki oil. Just the cheap stuff. In my own opinion if you change it regularly, this is just as good as any other oil. It is a honda afterall. It will run for friggin ever.

the guy i bought my bike from has rode hondas most of his life and has a 04cbr1000RR and a 97 cbr1100, he told me the honda oil without moly is the best stuff he's used in his bikes. while he is slightly honda biased, i have seen him try castrol, bel-ray, and yamalube 4r, and he says the honda oil ran better in his bike and looked better when he changed it. i will continue to use the honda W/out moly in my bike. the way i see it, honda uses this stuff when they test/build bikes so clearly it is designed to work best with these bikes. my two cents

I've done a lot a reading on this over the night... moly (molybdenum) is an additive for synthetic oil that will damage our clutches. Any oil that is listed as "ENERGY CONSERVING" will cause damage to our clutches. From what I can find... Honda GN4 10W-40 is a popular choice.
