Default 07 CBR600RR headlight help!

First time posting here, I can’t find an answer to my problem online.

I bought a wrecked 07 CBR600RR and have been rebuilding it and everything runs/works fine so far. Went to get it inspected (in Texas) and they failed it because the High/Low beams don’t switch.

My headlights are both on at the same time on low however when I flip the bright switch nothing happens. The “bright light” indicator lights up on the cluster but the lights do not get brighter or dimmer.

I am unsure where to start because the headlight housing is new, bulbs are new, and the switch is at least working to the cluster. I thought only one low beam is supposed to be on low and the other turns on when brights are activated. I’m open to any suggestions on how to fix it to pass inspection.

Greetings & Salutations!!

Someone hacked your headlights!!

Both lights are single-filament, they DO NOT change.

Right side is low-beam and on full-time.

Left side is high-bean and OFF until you flip dimmer switch to High. Then high-beam light turns ON

Low-beam light stays same regardless of dimmer switch position

Oof! Well I suppose it could be a wiring issue? Maybe try to track the bright side to make sure it’s the only one plugged into the left side?

Yes, get wiring diagram so you can trace wires and restore back to to factory OEM configuration.

1. low-beam is powered through start-button so that it turns off headlight when you push start-button

2. hi-beam is powered through hi-beam relay, which is activated by dimmer-switch.

They are on completely different circuits and don't share anything in common except for ground.

Here's wiring-diagram for '07-08

What I like to do is print it out full-size (on 11x17 paper if possible). Then trace circuits in question with coloured markers. That helps me understand how headlights circuit works. And helps me trace wiring on bike to ensure it matches diagram.

Good luck!

UPDATE

So turns out it wasn’t a wiring issue, it was a combination of a bad bright switch and a bad headlight relay! Both have been fixed! Thanks for the help!
